MOTION FOR CONTINUANCE
The plaintiff moves the Court for an Order continuing
generally the hearing in the above-captioned case on the grounds
that:
1. A Temporary Protection Order was issued by this Court
on June 20, 1996, scheduling a heliring for June 27, 1996, at 3:30
p.m.
2. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department deputized
the Perry County Sheriff's Department to serve the defendant, but
the Parry County Sheriff's Department has been unable to find the
defsndant and serve him.
3. The plaintiff requests that the Temporary Protection
Order remain in effect for one year or until modified or
terminated by the court after notice or hearing.
4. Certified copies of the Order for Continuance will be
del ivered to the Pennsylvania State Pol ice Department by the
attorney tor the plaintiff.
WHEREFORE, the plaintiff requests that the Court grant this
Motion and continue this matter generally, and that the Temporary
INSTRUCTION:"'~ TO THE DEFENDANT

As you know, the plaintiff hils filed a '~gal action agsinst you under the Protection
From Abuse Act iind has obtained a Temporary Protection Order. Thn plaintiff is prepared
to have a hearing held in ordcr to <Jlllain II final Protection Order effcctive for one (I) year.

The Consent Agreement should be prepared before the time scheduled for the hearing
so the Court wHl know ahead of time that the Cl18e will not be conte19ted. In some cases,
regardless ot' whether a settlement by Consent Agreement hIlS been reached, the parties
must appear In court at the time scheduled for hearing. If the Cl18e Is uncontested, the
court appearance will be brief. The Judge will mnke sure the parties understand the
Consent Agreement and final Protection Order.
If you do not agree to the entry of the final Protection Order, a contested hearing will
take place at the scheduled time. When n final Protection Order Is entered, it will be sent or
given to you, the plaintiff, and the appropriate police departments. If you fail to abide by
thc terms of the final Protection Order you will be subject to immediate arrest, and a fine of
