1. Plaintiff Muriel Smith is an adult individual l:es1ding at
1060 Lakewood Dl:ive, Harrisburg, Dauphin county, Pennsylvania,
2. Defendant ,royce A. Long is an adult individual resl.ding at
62 North Second Street, Newport, Perry County, P~nnaylvania.
:I, On November 9, 1995, at approximately 10154 a.m.,
Plaintiff Muri~l Smith was operating s 1994 Saturn and was stopped
at a stoplight in the westbound through lane of Market Street, Camp
Hill, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, at the inteJ:'sl'tction with
Routes 11 & 15.
4. At said date and time, Defendant Joyce A, Long was
opeJ:'ating a 1993 Chevrolet Oeo, Regiatratlon Number 46687633901, in
a nOJ:'therly diJ:'ection on Routes 11 & 16, Camp Hill, Cumberland
County, Pennsylvania, approaching the intertlection with Market
St J:'eet.
5. At said date, time and place, Defendant Joyce A, Long
noticed that the traffic signal was changing lInd increased the
speed of her vehicle in an attempt to cross Market Street before
the signal turned red,
6. As ahe crossed the intersection, Defendant Joyce A. Long' a
vehLcle impacted with il vehicle being drivell by Carolyn C, Slane in
an easterly direct Ion on Marl(ot Street, thereby cauBing the vehicle
of Carolyn c, Slnne to impact with the driver.' 13 Ilide of Plaintiff
Muriel smith's stopped vehicle,
7, 'rile accident was caufled solely by the negligenoe I
carelessness and recklessness of Defendant Joyce A, Long,
S, Defendant Joyce A. Long' fI negligencl!, careleSlmess and
recklessnesfI consisted of the followingl
(a)
contrul,
(b) fai ling to operate her vehicle in accordance With
existing traffic conditions and traffic controle,
failing to have her vehicle under proper and adequate
(c) fail in9 to keep a reasonable lookout for other vehicles
lawfully on the road,
(d) operating her vehicle flO all to create a dangerous
condition for other vehicles on the rQadway, and
(e) violating provisions of the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle
Code, spedfically 75 Pa,C,S.A, 53111(a) and 531.12(a) (3) (1),
9. As a direct and proximate result of the negligence of
Defendant Joyce A, Long, Plaint i ff Muriel Smi th sustained physical
injuries in the nature ot., but not limited tOI
(a) Severe pain in the back of her neck, going up to the top
of the skull,
(b) Pain in her shoulders, arms and mid and upper back,
(c) Severe muscle contracture headaches,
(d) Pain in the right mid-humeral region,
(e) Disc herniation tQ the right at C3-~, with moderate to
severe cervical spondylosis,
(E) Num~nesR to the left side of her face and jaw,

(g) Excessive pressure on the upper teeth jaw, caused when a
partial dental prosthesis was bent, and
(h) Pental root fl'acture.

Defendant Joyce A, J"ong, Plllintiff Muriel Smith has and may lIIusta1n
into the future the following damageG'
(a) Physical and mental pain Ilnd aUffering,
(b) Inconvenience and depr.ivation of lif.e's pleuul.'ul

(d) Inability to perform daily work .and activities.
