RESOLUTION 12-97 A RESOLUTION OF TilE BOROUGII COUNCIL OF TilE BOROUGII OF NEIf CUMBERLAND, COHDERLAND COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, REQUESTING TilE CUMBERLAND COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS TO MODIFY AND ALTER EXISTING VOTING PRECINCTS IN TilE BOROUGII OF NEW CUMBERLAND. NIIEREAS, The Borough of New Cumberland presently has voters from Nev Cumberland IN,IP and Nev Cumberland IN, 2P voting at the same location, being New Cumberland Fire Co, 319 4th Street, New Cumberland, PAl and NIIEREAS, The New Cumberland Borough Council has received complaints from electors and precinct officials due to duplication of efforts and difficulty in acquiring poll workers to cover two precincts voting at the same geographical location; and NHEREAS, Section 504 of the Pennsylvania Election Code (25 P.S. 2704) authorizes the Cumberland County Board of Elections to petition the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas for modification of existing election districts, NOIf, TIIEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Borough Council of the Borough of New Cumberland, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, that the Cumberland County Board of Elections is requested to modify and alter the existing districts by combining Nev Cu.berland IN, IP and Nev Cumberland Ilf, 2P into a single district, Nev Cumberland IN, IP, at the same location, being Nev Cumberland Fire Co., 319 4th Street, New Cumberland, PA, including the presentation of all necessary petitions to the Court, to accomplish the requirements of Section 502 of the PennSYlvania Election Code. The new precinct would be known as New Cumberland I W-IP. The resolution was made due to the fact that vacancies on the Election Boards are difficull to fill and the same facility is used as the polling place for both. The Board of Elections has petitioned the court for a hearing on this Proposal. We will be sending you notificalion of the date and localion of the hearing once it is scheduled.
