LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
OF
JULIA CATHARINE STECK
I, JULIA CATHARINE STECK, single woman, of 505 South Hanover Street in the
Borough of Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, being of sound and disposing mind,
memory and understanding, do hereby make, publish and declare this as and for my Last Will and
Testament, hereby revoking and making void lIny and all Wills by me at anytime heretofore made.
I. I direct my hereinllfler named Exeeutors to pay all of my just debls and funcral
expenses, including an appropriatc grave mllrker, as soon after my dcath as may bc found
convenient to do so.
2. 1 further direct that nll inheritancc, transfer, succcssion, estnlc and death taxes which
may be pay"ble on account of my death shall be pnid by my Executors from thc reslduc of my
estate regardless of whether thc assets upon which such lnxes are bascd are includcd in my probate
estate.
3. I give and bequeath to Fanners Trost Company, its successors and assigns, One Wesl
High Street, Carlisle, Pcnnsylvania, in \nisI, the sum of $50,000.00 to be added to the LUlhernn
Theological Seminary Trust established in memory of my father, The Reverend Augustus R.
Steck, D. D., which existing Trust was created by my sister, Margaret S. Miller and her husband,
Pierson K. Miller, This bequest is intended as an addilion to snid Trost and shall be administered
by the Trustee and its successors as a part of said Trusl and on the same tcnns and condllions ns
set forth in the Trost Agreement.
4. 1 give and bequealh the sum of $1,000.00 to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, comer
of East High Street and Bcdford Street, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to the Memorial Fund.
5. 1 give Wld bequeath the sum of $1,000.00 to the Nationnl Guild of Piano Teachers
Scholarship Fund, to be added to and administered as a part of snid fund.
6. 1 give and bequeath the sum of $2,500.00 to the Young Womens' Chrlstlnn
Association, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. in memory of my mother, Mrs. AuguSlUS R. Steck, who WIL~
one of the founders of the Carlisle Young Womens' Christian Association, which bequest shall be
used as needed to furnish the "Steck Room".
7. 1 give and bequeath lhe sum of $2,500,00 to the Trustees of Tressler Luthernn
Services, 960 Century Drive, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania 17055, which bequcst shall be used
for sueh purpose or purposes as the Board of Directors of said Trustees of Tressler Luthernn
Services shall deem best.
8. 1 give and bequeath the sum of $2,500.00 to the Curlisle Muslcnl Arts Club
Scholarship Fund to be added to and administered as a part of said fund.
9. 1 give and bequeath the sum of $30,000.00 to each of my following nieces nnd
nephews, their heirs and assigns, provided each of them shall survive me by n period of ninety (90)
days, bul should any of them fnil to so survive me then the share such deccased niece or nephew
would have received shnll pass 10 such of his or her issue, their heirs and assigns IL~ shnll survive
me by a period of ninety (90) days, per stirpes, and if there me no such issue the same shalllnpse
Wld be added to the shares of the nieces and nephews so surviving or leaving Issue surviving by n
period of ninety (90) days, snid seven (7) nieces and nephews being: Mary Steck Welford, Sarnh
Steck Rogers, Margaret Steck Jakway, Malcolm M. Steck, Jr., Duncan Graham SIeck, Richard C.
Steck. II, and Slephen McKenney Steck.
10, All of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, real, personnl nnd mixed, and
wheresoever the same may be situate, including nll of the household goods and contents of my
dwelling house at 505 South Hanover Street, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, 1 give, devise nnd bequenth to
my sister, Margaret S. Miller, her heirs and assigns.
II. I hereby nominate, constilute and appoint my sister, Margaret S. Miller and Funners
Trust Company and its successors, One West HIgh Street, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, IL~ Co. Executors
of this my Lnsl Will and Testament, and 1 further direct that neither of thcm shall be required 10
posl any bond to secure the fnithful performance of her or its duties in the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvanill or in any other jurisdiction.

WHICH IS DATED JUNE 27, 1994
I, JULIA CATHARINE STECK, single woman, of 505 South Hanover Street in the
Borough of Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, being of sound and disposing mind,
memory and understanding, do hereby make, publish and declare this as and for a First Codicil to
my Last Will and Testament dated June 27, 1994, as follows:
A. I give and bequeath the sum of $3,000.00 to the Carlisle Chapter of the American Red
Cross, 1710 Ritner Highway, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, in memory of my brother, Roger H. Steck,
to be used for such purpose or purposes as the officers of said Chapter shall deem best.
B. I give and bequeath to Farmers Trust Company, Its successors and assigns, One West
High Street, Carllsle, Pennsylvania, in trust, the sum of $25,000.00 to be added to the trust fund
maintained by it for the benefit of Cumberland County Historical Society and Hamilton Library
Association, the income from which shall be used by said beneficiary for such projects from time
to time as its Board of Directors shall deem appropriate, in memory of my brother Roger H. Steck
who was the first full time Executive Director of the Society and the Society shall cause a suitable
plaque to be placed in Its building noting this bequest In memory of Roger H. Steck.
C. Except as hereinabove provided, I hereby ratify and affirm the provisions of my Last
Will and Testament dated June 27,1994.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunlo set my hand and seal to this First Codicil to
my said Last Will and Testament, on this 14th day of June, 1995.
