Woods File No. 2006-00472 To Whom It May Concern: On December 8, 2006, I mailed the enclosed letter to your office regarding the misapplication of the checks that were mailed when the Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax Return for this matter was filed. A few days later, a representative of your office contacted me and stated that the check for $270.00 was applied to Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax instead of additional probate fees. The Representative stated that the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue had been contacted and that once your office received the funds, they would be applied to the account. I was also told that I had the option of paying the additional funds that were due or waiting until the $270.00 was applied to this bill and a new receipt would be issued. Finally, I was told to ignore any notices that I received that did not reflect the credit. I am enclosing a check for $50.00, which is the additional probate that is due. I assume that once the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue issues the check for $270.00 those funds will be applied to the outstanding balance. If you have any questions, please contact me. Included with this return were three (3) checks. I have enclosed a copy of the three (3) checks and a copy of the enclosure letter that was mailed with the return. The check for $2,419.94 was for additional Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax. The check for $270.00 was for additional probate costs. The check for $30.00 was for the filing fees. I received a receipt for the $2,419.94 check and the $270.00 check. It appears that both of these amounts were applied to the Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax. The check for $270.00 should have been applied to the additional probate fees. It appears from the receipt that it may have been applied to the Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax. I did not receive a receipt for the $30.00 check. I received a receipt indicating that there is a fee for additional probate of $320.00. Please let me know if it is possible to apply the $270.00 check and the $30.00 check to this invoice and provide me with an invoice for any additional probate fees that are required.
