4. Respondents Jane Bolan Sullivan and John StUat1 Bolan are the children of
Decedent's late sister, Helen S. Bolan.
5. On March 3,1997, Respondents Jane Bolnn Sullivan nnd George F. Douglas, III were
granted Letters Testnmentary by the Register of Wills of Cumberland County under the Last Will
and Testament of Hazel M. Brame, dated May 6, 1996 (hereinafter referred to as the "May 1996
Will"). A copy of the May 1996 Will is attached hereto as Exhibit "A."
6. Petitioners/Appellants contest the validity of the May 1996 Will.

Re: Estate of Hazel Brame
No, 21.97-0206
Objection to final accounting
We, the below named, would like to lIIe an objection to the final accounting of the above
referenced estate. Our objections are based on our ehock and amazement at the terms of thle
most recent will, dated 5/6/96 (or 5/8/96). These terme are at ab~ol\lte variance with our known
family history (please see attached narrative), Further, to the best of our personal knowledge,
the deceaeed was In possession at the time of her death of pereonal property far In excess of that
stated In the valuallon In Schedule E of tha CommonwFlallh of Pennsylvania return (reference, for
example, Evaluation of Personal Property by Rowe: "costume jawelry" In the amounts of $50 and
$60),
Our attempts to establish a history of the above referenced will have been thwarted given
the conflicting roles played by the co-executor of the estate as attorney to the deceased, wllnees
to the will and co. executor of the estate (note: sea letter from Doyle to Douglas and Douglas,
dated 8/31/97: Security Registered Canada Post Corp. 1177-428.961-169, Access Code 7878:
and reply from Douglas and Douglas to Doyle, dated 9/30/97, and reading, In part: "I have
received your requeel and as the attorney for Hazel M. Brame, I am not willing to turn over any
previous wills that she may have written," Copies of these letters are In tha hands of Pepper,
Hamilton and Scheetz and Steven Anthony, Esquire).
We are, unlike the executors of the estate. unable at this time to afford the benefits of
legal representation, However we feel both a legal and a moral Imperative to express our strong
objectlon3 to this accounting, We believe that an objective and Indepandant scrutiny of this
accounting Is warranted.
Respectfully submlttad by:

Re: Estate of Hazel Brame
Narrative re: objection to final accounting
The Will:
1. The date of the signing of the will does not appear to be the same as the date of the
attached notarized papers,
2. The page with the residual bequests to Jane Sulllvsn and John Bolan (reference:
Item XVII and above of Will) differs substantially, both In structuraand wording, from the previous
page.
3. The pages of the will are nol initialled by the deceased,
The Estate
1. The multiple roles played by the firm of Doug/as and Douglas. as personsl attorney
to the decessed, as witness to the will and as executors of the estate. have appeared to create a
conflict for us. They have denied our requests for previous wills, thus making II Impossible for us
to pursue what we .ilOe as our beneficial rights,
2. To the best of our personal knowledge, the itemization of the perSonal property was,
In some cases, grossly undervalued and, In other oases, substantively Incomplete. There should
exist documentation of these personal effects, such as appraisals, Itemizations for property
insurance purposes and oatalogulng of estate contents of decensod's beneficia/Interests In
previous eslate.
3, The generosity of the exeoutors' fees has profoundly weighted the playing field In oLlr
disfavor and compromised ollr ability to pursue the facts in this matter.
The History
1. The basic dynamics of our family hIstory oons/stod of an oxtreme/y olose relationship
between the three slslers (the deoeased. our molher and the mother of the two primary
beneficiaries), This relationship survived the usual exigencies of time, place and illness, except
for the marked estrangement of the deceased and one of the primary beneficiaries for many
years. Anecdotal history ascribed this estrangement to personal and family business matters,
Over the years there was conversation among family members to the effeot that our
mother would "be taken care of" by the dr)ceased in an amount oonsislent with half the value of
the known estate, The familial assumption was, given the closeness of these sisters. the
deceased would take responsibility for them and their families.
2, The business affairs of one of the primary beneficiaries (alluced to above) have
continued to be marked by several bankruptcll3s, lawsuits and ongoing em battlements with the
IRS (for example: In Amerioo and Maureen Angelone, Florida Docket #92.Q0808A, In re: #92.
09268, which was an objeotion to dlschargeablllty of a debt In one of the above-mentioned
bankruptcies, there was a finding In favor of the plaintiff on 4/21/94, An appeal was dismissed In
October of that year, The amount, however, $58,000, was only a fraction of the totality of
unseoured debts discharged. Also noted in the bankruptcy proceedIngs were 'ederaltax
liabilities. disputed and in appeal. dating from 1981throllgh 1991 .In the amount of
$166,283.57).
3, The sudden appearance of a new will in May of 1996, naming this person as a
primary beneflolary, does not seem consistent with familial history regarding the relationship
between the beneficiary and the deoeased, most espeoially given the oircumstan.::es of said
beneficiary (see above History, #1, first paragraph),
In sum, we believe that there exists documentary evidence that would serlouslt compromise this
final accounting, but, because of the circumstances, we have been unable to secure It. We
further believe that an Impartial and independent aoounting would serve botll good faith and the
truth.

1, We request a response from both Executors (George F. Douglas, III

Schedule C, attached,
2. We are concerned about the status of Hazel Brame's real and
personal estate at the time of her death as reflected in the Inventory of Real and
Personal Property - for example, the $391,992.44 in her Farmers Trust Company
Checking Account #847720. We find such a large amount of money in such a
highly liquid medium to be unusual, out of character for the deceased and
puzzling, We therefore believe that the real and personal estate requires a more
exhaustive scrutiny. A copy of this Inventory is attached as Schedule H.

PERSONAL PROPERTY BELONGING TO HAZEL M. BRAME
We believe that there was a pattern of omission and under-valuation in the
accounting and appraisal of Hazel Brame's personal property. The below-
mentioned items were, to our very personal knowledge, owned by Ms, Brame,
Further, it is quite likely that there exists documentary evidence of same, such as
personal property !nsurance policies (with relevant itemizations, descriptions and
appraisals), appraisals from her local jeweler and cataloguing from the Estate
contents of Frederic M. Lawrence, from whom she inherited the bulk of the
below-mentioned property.
Hazel Brame was the primary beneficiary of the Estate of Dr, Frederic M.
Lawrence, for whom she worked for many years as Executive and Personal
Assistant. From him she inherited his residential property on West High Street in
Carlisle, which st.:>od in the middle of Dickinson College land and buildings, That
property r.onsisted of a large and exceptional:y gracious home, sited on a lot
which extended from West High Street back to the bordering alley. She later
sold this property to Dickinson, after many years of negotiation, I have attached
a contemporaneous photograph of this property to give the Court some sense of
the Estate.
Further to the west of this property, on Newville Road, Westminster
Cemetery, along with extensive acreage adjoining it 10 the west, was also part of
the Estate. Ms. Brame developed, from that property, the Westminster Memorial
Gardens, She sold the Cemetery and Gardens just a few years ago,
There was also an organic fertilizer plant on this tract, Adco Works. The
formula was sold to the Rodale family.
Dr. Lawrence had been married twice, with both his wives predeceasing
him, They each had extensive and quite valuable collections of fine jewelry,
Some of these pieces were reo worked by Ms, Brame early on, locally; some
were kept in their original settings Among the jewels were rings, bracelets and
brooches, including, but not limited to, gems such as diamonds, sapphires and
alexandriles, many in platinum settings. One ring in particular, an emerald-cut
multiple carat alexandrite, was often, rather playfully, traded back and forth
between Ms, Brame and our mother, her sister, despite its extraordinary value,
Ms, Brame retained it. We have attached independent information on the current
value of similar, although less important, pieces The ring in question was set
with a stone far exceeding those listed, both in size and quality.
(
,
In addition, Dr. Lawrence was very close friends with Stephen Crane, the
author, even living with him for a time in Philadelphia. Ms. Brame inherited
various memorabilia and manuscripts, some of which were still extant.
Dr. Lawrence was also an avid philatelist, with a world-wide collection.
There seem to have been other omissions, i.e., anything of value (the hall-
marked solid sterling silver estate pieces, her mink coat).
As far as under-valuations, I hope I have been able to give the Court some
small indication of the quality of personal property which Ms. Brame had inherited
and had in her possession. Referencing the Personal property Appraisal by
Rowe (Schedule B), for example:
"Costume Jewlery (sic) - $60", and
"Costume Jewlery (~ic) - $50": These truly merit no comment.
"Misc. flatware" - $10: I presume this is the sterling silver flatware?
"Set Gold Band China" - $20?
"Linens" - $12: a very valuable collection of extremely fine linens from
the 1920's through 1940's.
"Accessories & Decorators - $55 (Bedroom 2)": This would include the
Battenburg lace and other bedroom soft furnishings specially designed and
executed for Ms. Brame?
In sum, Ms. Brame inherited an estate of unusual value and quality. Many
of the items in this estate were retained by her. We have personal knowledge of
the existence of all of the above, and of much more. Further, as we have
mentioned, we believe there to be supportive documentary evidence to this
effect.
Even more important, for us, is the fact that we believe that the Accounting
of the Estate in this manner is, in some very real way, a "forgetting": a "forgetting"
of her, of her history, and, thus, of the history of those of us who shared her life
with her. In addition to the monetary value of all those Items which have been
ignored or under-valued in this Estate, is the essential human value they
possessed, or were vested with, by Hazel Brame. It gave her great pleasure to
recount, to remind, to remember. I do not think she would be pleased to see her
history, her life, ignored and under-valued in this way.

Re: Estate of Hazel Brame
Narrative re: objection to final accounting
ThaWIII:
1, The dats of the signing of the will does not appear to be tha same as the date of the
attaohed notarized papers,
2. The page with the residual bequests to Jane Sullivan and John Bolan (reference:
Item XVII and above of Will) differs substantially, both In structure and wording, from the previous
page.
3, The pages of the will aI'S not Initialled by the deceased.
The Estate
1, The multiple roles played by the firm of Douglas and Douglas - as perscnal attorney
to the deceased, as witness to the will and as executors of the estate - have appeared to create a
conflict for us. They have denied our requests for previous wills, thus making It impossible for us
to pursue what we see as aliI' beneficial rights,
2. To the best of our personal knowledge, the itemization of the personal property was,
In some cases, grossly undervulusd and, In other cases, SUbstantively Incomplete. There should
exist documentation of these personal effects, sllch as appraisals, itomlzatlons for property
Insurance purposes and cataloguing of estate conlents of deceased's beneficial Interests In
previous estate,
3. The generosity of the executors' fees has profoundly weighted the playing field In oUr
disfavor and compromised our ability to pursue the facts In this matter,
The History
1, The basic dynamics of our family history consisted of an extremely close relationship
between the three sisters (the deceased, our mother and the mother of the two primary
beneficiaries). This relationship stllvlved the usual exigencies of time, place and IIlnass, except
for the marked estrangement of the deceased and one of the primary beneficiaries for many
years. Anecdotal history ascribed this estrangement to personal and family business matters.
Over the years there was conversation among family members to the effect that our
mother would "he taken care of" by the deceased in an amount consistent with half the value of
the known estate. T~e familial assumption was, given the closeness of these sisters, the
deceased would take responsibility for them and t.holr families.
2. The business affairs of one of the primary beneficlarios (alluded to above) have
continued to be marked by several bankruptcies, lawsuits and ongoing embattlements with the
IRS (for example: in America and Maureen Angelone, Fiorida Docket #92-00808A, in re: #92-
09268, whiCh was an objection to dischargeability of a debt in one of the above-mentioned
bankruptcies, there was a finding in favor of the plaintiff on 4/21/94, An appeal was dismissed in
October of that year, The amount, however, $58,000, was only a fraction of the totality of
unsecured debts discharged. Also noted in the bankruptcy proceedings were federal tax
liabilities - disputed and in appeal - dating from 1981 through 1991 - in the amount of
$166,283.57).
3. The sudden appearance of a new will in May of 1996, naming this person as a
primary heneficlary, does not seem consistent with familial history regarding the relationship
between the beneficiary and the deceased, most especially given the circumstances of said
beneficiAry (see above History, #1, first paragraph),
In sum, we believe that there exists documentary evidence that would seriouslt compromise this
final accounting, but, because of the circumstances, we bave been unable to secure it. We
further believe that an Impartial and independent acountlng would serve both good faith and the
truth,
