Unsatisfied liabilities incurred by the decedent prior to his/her death are deductible against his/her taxable estate.
In addition to debts incurred by the decedent or estate, other items are claimable including the cost 01 administration,

4. FAtLURE TO FILE RETURN
Section 791 of the 1961 Statute provides that" . . .any person who wil\lully fails to 1i1e a return or other report
required of him. . ,shilll be personillly liable. . .to a penalty of 25% of the tilX ultimately found to be due or $i,OOO
whichever is the lesser to be recovered by the Department of Revenue as dehts of like amount are recoverable by
law."
5. TAX RATES
Inheritance Tax is payilble at the Tilte of 6% on transfers to lineal descendants, such as father, mother, 11Usband, wife,
son, daughter, grandchildren, grandparent, son-in-law and dilughter-in-Iaw and at the rate 0115% as to all others.
6. !:E{MENTOFTAX
The tax assessed on the tmnsfer of property reported in the return is due 9 months after the decedent's death. Interest
at lhe rate 016% per annum ilccrues thereafter until payment is made. All payments received are first applied to any
interest which may be d~le with any remainder apptied to the tax. IF TAX IS PAID WITHIN 3 MONTHS AFTER THE
DECEDENTS DEATH, A DISCuJNT OF 5% OF THE TAX PAYMENT IS ALLOWED.
All checks Sllould be milde p~yable to the Register of Wills of the county wherein the decedent resided and are
received subject to the final determination of the Department of Revenue.
7. FAILURE TO ~Y
The tilxes imposed, together with any interest thereon, are a lien upon reat property, which lien remains in effect until
the tilxes and interest have heen paid in full. The taxes may be sued for against any real property in the decedent's
estale 01 agilinst any property belonging to a transferee liatlle for the tax.
8. FILING OF FALSE RETURN

Any person who willfully milkes a false return or report required of him shall. in accordance with Section 793 of the
1961 Statute, be guilty of a misdemeanor ilnd, on conviction thereof, shall be sentenced to pay a fine ~ot exceeding
