PRAECIPE FOR THE ORDER AND DECREE FOR THE
APPOINTMENT OF HUMANE SOCIETY OF HARRISBURG AREA. INC.
AND NOW, comes the Petitioner, Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc., by and
through its attorneys James, Smith, Durkin & Connelly, LLP requesting the' appointment of
Rickee Ann Miller and Debra A, Witmer to act as Humane Society Police Officers pursuant to 3
Pa,e.S, 9456.1, et seq and in support thereof aver the following:
7, As evidenced by the Order and Decree of the Court of Cornmon Pleas of Dauphin County,
attached hereto as Exhibit "A", Rickee Ann Miller and Debra A. Witmer have been
appointed Humane Society Police Officers under the Humane Society Police Officer
Enforcement Act (3 Pa,e.S, 9 456.1 et seq) for the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc.
and have taken the oath of that office as evidenced by Exhibit "B".
8. The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc. serves the animal control needs of
municipalities and citizeury of Cumberland County,
9, Pursuant to our Supreme Court's holding in Holsizer v, Labor Dav Committee, 557 Pa 467,
734 A.2d 848 (1999) the decree of the Dauphin County Court of Cornmon Pleas must be
recorded in all counties in which the appointees shall act.
WHEREFORE, the Petitioner respectfully requests that this Honorable Court enter an
Order and Decree appointing Rickee Ann Miller and Debra A. Miller as Humane Society Police
Officers.
