Dennis Marion, Director of Elections of Cumberland County, being duly swom according to law, doth depose and say that he did cause notices of the time and place of the hearing of a Petition, presented to the Court of Common Pleas, Civil Division, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, praying for the creation of an additional election district in Middlesex Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Middlesex Township election district has approximately 3195 registered voters. The proposed dividing line between the two precincts will be Route 11. The Court has set the 17"' day of December, 1999, 9:15 a.m. in Courtroom No. 3, Courthouse, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, as the time and place for a hearing on said Petition, at which time objections thereto will be heard and considered. Any person desiring to object to the same shall file his objections with the Prothonotary prior to the date of the hearing. CIVIL 1999 MIDDLESEX TOWNSHIP ELECTION MATTER PETITION OF THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS FOR THE CREATION OF AN ADDITIONAL ELECTION DISTRICT IN MIDDLESEX TOWNSHIP. PETITION TO THE HONORABLE JUDGES OF SAID COURT: The Petition of Ralph Viehman, Joan Maher and Karen Byers, the County Board of Elections, respectfully represent: That the election district known as Middlesex Township has a total registered electorate of approximately 3195. That the County Board of Elections proposes to create an additional election district in Middlesex Township by splitting the current district, thereby making the total number of voting precincts two. The proposed precincts will have approximately the following number of registered voters: Precinct 1 2255 Precinct 2 940 That the convenience of the voting public in Middlesex Township will be better served by the creation of an additional voting precinct with a convenient polling place. That the new boundaries of the proposed voting precincts are set forth in Exhibit "A" attached and as shown on the map attached hereto as Exhibit "B", both of which are made a part hereof. Said Petition is being filed under the applicable provisions of the Election Code, 25 P.S. 2704. 7 That notice of the proposed creation of an additional voting precinct in Middlesex Township by splitting the current precinct into two voting precincts to be know as Precinct 1 and Precinct 2 was made by posting public notices in at least five public and conspicuous places in the district affected hereby as set forth in the Election Code. If an additional voting precinct is formed the proposed polling places in Middlesex Township will be: Precinct 1: Middlesex Township Building 350 N. Middlesex Road Carlisle, PA 17013 Precinct 2: Cumberland County Agricultural Extension Office 1100 Claremont Road Carlisle, PA 17013 That the Board of Supervisors of Middlesex Township seek the split of Middlesex Township into two voting precincts. 10 That representatives of both political parties as well as local election board members were notified of the proposed division for the convenience of the voting public. WHEREFORE, Your Petitioners respectfully pray your Honorable Court to approve the division of the voting district of Middlesex Township into two voting precincts to be known as Middlesex Precinct 1 and Middlesex Precinct 2 as shown on the map attached hereto as Exhibit B and as provided by the Election Code as herein before set forth.
