At the time that GOOD NEW CONSUL TING,INC. (GNC) was appointed guardian for
Ms. Thompson on November 16, 2006 her assets from Belco Credit Union were
determined as the following:
Savings account
Checking account
$5.00
$273.73
Her son Gaylord Thompson made a withdrawal 11/16/07 for $20.00. He also withdrew
$200.00 on 11/30/07, accurred a fee of$4.50 which brought the balance to $49.23.
A payment was received 12/6/06 for $70.00 and a withdrawal was made 12/11. The
financial institution allowed this withdrawal even though indications of the guardianship
were in their system. GOOD NEW CONSUL TING,Inc. is still working with Beleo to
recover, at least, the $110.00. Statements are enclosed with this report to indicate all
activity in Ms. Thompson's account prior to and after the appointment of guardianship.
It was also discovered that Ms. Thompson was owner of 2 life insurance policies with
American General (AIG) . These policies were surrendered on January 21, 2007 by
Gaylord Thompson who identified himself as POA, according to AIG. Mr. Thompson
did not notify guardianship agency of this event nor has he provided any documentation
as to how this money was spent. His only comment to GNC staff has been that he spent
it on his mother's bills. AIG documentation is enclosed. AIG has been asked to provide
us with the actual surrender value as of 1/21/07. We are awaiting that amount.
Ms.'Thompson's social security and pension are received directly by Manor Care Camp
Hill. All income and liabilities are handled by the business office at the nursing home.
As of9/21/07, her only assets include a savings account at Belco=$14.23 (checking and
savings were combined, checking account was closed so that Mr. Thompson would no
longer have access). She also has a resident trust fund held at Manor Care Camp Hill .
Currently though there is no balance due to paying for guardianship start up fees. Once
this balance is paid, she will continue to accumulate her personal allowance of$45.00 per
month.
When further information is received from AIG as to the amounts of the insurance
policies, GNC will submit to the court as an addendum to this report.
