IN THE COURT OF COMMON PLEAS
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PENNSYL VANIA
IN RE: The Matter of
Mehany W. Mousa and
Kendra N. Vernon
Marriage Application 2007-1143
PETITION FOR CORRECTION OF NAME
ON MARRIAGE LICENSE, APPLICATION and CERTIFICATION
AND NOW, comes the Petitioner, the Cumberland County Register of
Wills and Clerk of Orphans' Court, Glenda Farner Strasbaugh, who respectfully
requests a Correction of Name on a Marriage License, Application and
Certification in the above-noted matter and in support thereof avers the
following:
1.) The Petitioner is the duly elected Register of Wills and Clerk of the
Orphans' Court for Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, Glenda Farner
Strasbaugh.
2.) Part of her duties as the Clerk of the Orphans' Court requires
Glenda Farner Strasbaugh to provide marriage licenses to those applicants who
can satisfy the applicable statutory requirements for obtaining such a license.
O~ :'1 r~d 2 - H~r ~Uijl
3.) On December 21, 2007, the two above-noted individuals personally
appeared at the Clerk of Orphans' Court office at which time, after sufficiently
establishing their identities as well as meeting the other statutory requirements,
their marriage license application was accepted.
4.) Prior to executing the marriage license application on the
aforementioned date, each applicant was specifically requested by the office of
the Cumberland County Orphans' Court to review the submitted information to
ensure its accuracy; applicants failed to identify any inaccuracies at that time.
5.) Several days later, when the applicants picked up the marriage
License at the Office of the Clerk of the Orphans' Court, a clerk again requested
the applicants to confirm all of the information contained thereon and again
received no response from the applicants identifying any errors in the document.
6.) On December 28, 2007 when the applicants were returning the
marriage license to the Clerk's office, however, Applicant Mousa notified the
Clerk's office of the misspelling of his name on the marriage license application
and certificate; specifically Applicant Mousa advised First Deputy Margie
Wevodau that his name had been erroneously spelled as:
Mahany W. Mousa and Kendra N. Vernon rather than the
correct spelling of Mehany W. Mousa
7.) Moreover, the Applicant Mousa had previously signed his name as
Mehany W. Mousa on the original application and his name also appeared in a
related federal civil action as Mehany W. Mousa.
8.) Petitioner respectfully requests this Honorable Court confirm that
Applicant Mousa's name had be erroneously spelled and provide authority for
the Clerk's Office to change and correct the spelling from Mehany W. Mousa to
Mehany W. Mousa.
WHEREFORE, Petitioner respectfully requests this Honorable
Court confirm that Applicant Mousa's name had be erroneously spelled and
provide authority for the Clerk's Office to change and correct the spelling from
Mahany W. Mousa to Mehany W. Mousa.
Respectfully submitted,
Glenda Farner Strasbaugh
Clerk of the Orphans' Cour
Cumberland County, P A
