Dear :'1rs. Richard:
In accordance with our telephone conversation yesterday, there is a
difference between the amount listed on the Inventory and the Pennsylvania
Transfer Inheritance Tax Return of the above Estate and the amount which
you list on your Appraisement of Mrs. Brackett's Estate. Your Appraisement
lists a valuation of $186,785.31 in contrast to the $186,714.31 per the
Inventory.
Your Office advised us that the $71.00 difference was due to the
valuation of the Cumberland County National Bank Checking Account #093-656-7
n/o Kathryn S. Brackett. In the Inventory and the Pennsylvania Transfer
Inheritance Tax Return, we have valued said checking account at $1,072.06.
We are enclosing a CCNB Statement of Account for the period from
August 3, 1978 to September 5, 1978. Please note that the balance on
August 4, 1978 totalled $1,143.06. On said balance, the decedent had drawn
two checks on July 24, 1978 which were not presented for payment until after
August 4, 1978. The two checks totalled $71.00.
After subtracting the two checks which were drawn by the decedent from
the $1,143.06 balance on August 4, 1978, we valued the CCNE checking account
at $1,072.06.
