Your Honor,
I am writing to you on behalf of my sister Roberta. Deere and myself in regard to not being
notified of our sister Laura's death. We are her closest family and heirs.
A few weeks ago I tried calling Laura and her telephone was disconnected. I immediately
contacted two people whose phone numbers she had given me should the occasion arise that I
was not be able to contact her directly. It was then that I found out about her death.
I have since talked to many of Laura's neighbors and personal friends who verified that they
knew I lived in Niagara Falls, NY. I am listed in the phone book and am the only Muriel White
in Niagara Falls. The friends and neighbors confirmed that no one contacted them for any of this
information.
I have since obtained a copy of Laura's death notice published in the local newspaper and it
contains the names of both myself, Muriel White, and my sister, Roberta Deere, as Laura's
surviving sisters, yet we were never notified of her death. I had also sent her birthday cards at the
end of June 2008, with my return address, and they were never returned to me.
Upon receiving a copy of Laura's will after contacting the attorney handling the matter of her
estate, Roberta and I were shocked as we both knew that Laura had a will and that it contained a
donation to a Methodist Home for boys and girls, something that Laura and her husband (who
pre-deceased her) had always wanted to do -they never had children of their own. No such
provision was in the will.
Laura died on May 13, 2008 and it appears that a new will had been signed by her on May 9,
2008. Laura died of colon cancer, was taking very strong medications, and was under the care of
hospice personnel. We cannot understand why on her deathbed four days prior to her passing
away Laura would draw up a new will when she already had one in place.
I am currently in the process of hiring a Pennsylvania attorney to file a protest to this will. I
thank you for your time on this matter and hope you will understand our concerns.
