Dear Sir /Madam:
Please be advised that I write on behalf of Suvina J. Kolhaas. She is the surviving and
umemarried widow of Earl Kohlhaas who departed this earthly life on October 22, 2009.
I have enclosed for your ready reference and convenience a copy of your two {2) Information
Notice Forms dated March 4, 2010, one of which was sent to Jeremy W. Helm and the other to Alexa
J. Helm, more properly known as Jasmine A. Helm. Mr. Helm is the adult stepson of decedent and
Jasmine A. Helm is the minor step-grandchild of decedent. The Notice Form taxes them as if they are
collaterals, however, under Section 9102 stepchildren and their descendants are treated as lineals.
They would therefore be subject to tax at the rate of 4'/z% rather than 15%. We have taken the liberty
of going ahead and correcting this. The amount due would thus be $82.28 x .045 = $3.70 x 2 = $7.40.
We have enclosed a check in that amount payable to the Register of Wills by copy of this letter
directly to Glenda Farner Strasbaugh. If you believe we are in error in any way or need any additional
proofs or information, please advise.
