In response to your letter of October 31, 2010, please accept my condolences for the
recent loss of your mother. I understand that it is a difficult time and dealing with the assets and
expenses of your loved one's estate can be stressful.
As Register of Wills, my office acts as the agent for the state solely for the purposes of
receiving tax payments and tax returns. Your letter and the accompanying Tax Payer Response
was forwarded to the Department of Revenue on November 5, 2010, for processing. You should
receive a statement from them showing the amount of tax due, if any, after they review your
response. If you have questions and would like to talk directly to someone at the Department of
