Petition for Settlement of Small Estate Pursuant to 20 Pa. Cons. Stat. § 3102
TO THE HONORABLE, THE JUDGES OF THE SAID COURT:
The petition of HAROLD L. BEEP respectfully states that:
1. CAROL V. REEP ("Decedent") died intestate, on February 28, 2011, a resident of the
Borough of Newville, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
2. The Petitioner is HAROLD L. BEEP, surviving spouse of Decedent, whose address is 56 S.
Corporation Street, Newville, PA 17241.
3. All of Decedent's property was titled jointly with the petitioner, Decedent's husband, as
tenants by the entireties, with the sole exception of an un-negotiated life insurance
check in the amount of $16,687.83, made payable in the name of Decedent, alone.
4. Decedent was survived by one child, who is also child of the petitioner, so that, under
the intestate statute, 20 Pa. C.S. § 2102, the petitioner is entitled to the first $30,000 of
Decedent's probate estate and one-half of the balance.
5. On the date of the Decedent's death Petitioner formed a part of Decedent's household,
and the petitioner is the person entitled to the family exemption.
6. All of Decedents property is taxable at 0% as transfers to her surviving spouse for
purposes of the Pennsylvania inheritance tax, and no federal estate tax is due.
7. All funeral and burial expenses have been paid in full, and all debts of the decedent fully
satisfied.
WHEREFORE, Petitioner prays the Court award the Estate of Carol V. Reep, deceased, to
the petitioner and issue an appropriate Order to enable petitioner to collect same.
