REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF EMERGENCY GUARDIANSHIP
AND NOW come Douglas R. Roeder, Esq., attorney for the Petitioner, The Elder
Protection Clinic of The Pennsylvania State University -Dickinson School of Law, and avers
the following:
1. An emergency guardianship was granted on Apri121, 2011, by a hearing in this Court,
with Troy Thumma being named the emergency guardian for the alleged incapacitated
person, Delores Thumma.
2. There are a significant number of financial affairs of the alleged incapacitated person that
need to be put in order.
3. Petitioner believes, and therefore avers, that the statutorily allowed 72 hours in an
emergency guardianship will not be sufficient to allow the emergency guardian, Troy
Thumma, to get all of the alleged incapacitated person's affairs in order.
4. In the Petition for an Emergency Guardianship, the Petitioner requested leave from the
Court to have this emergency guardianship extended to the maximum amount of time
allowable by law.

WHEREFORE, Petitioner respectfully requests that pursuant to 20 Pa.C.S. § SS 13, this
emergency guardianship of Delores Thumma be extended from 72 hours to a period of 20 days,
to allow the emergency guardian to get all of the affairs in order.
