You have advised us that the above decedent died intestate and presumably without known heirs. Therefore, the Commonwealth has rights and interests with respect to the estate in accordance with Section 2103(6) of the Probate, Estates and Fiduciaries Code. Enclosed is a Renunciation directed to the Register of Wills of Cumberland County, authorizing that you be granted Letters of Administration in the name of the Commonwealth, to act on its behalf to administer the estate. Please file the enclosed Renunciation immediately with the Register of Wills. Please do not pay any bills or claims other than the ordinary expenses of administration until they have been submitted to this office for approval. We will appreciate your efforts to insure that funeral and other expenses relating to the estate are kept to a minimum. Also, check into the possibility of income tax refunds, social security death benefits and veterans' benefits. As administrator, you are required to make a full investigation of this estate and submit a report, in accordance with the procedures of the County Orphans' Court.
