MOTION FOR CONTINUANCE
The Community Law Clinic brings this motion as Guardian Ad Litem on behalf of
Benjamin J. Ritter, an incapacitated person:
l. On May 30, 2013, the Honorable Edward Guido appointed the Community Law Clinic
as Guardian Ad Litem to represent the interests of Benjamin J. Ritter, an incapacitated person.
2. The Court has directed the Guardian Ad Litem to give an opinion at the hearing on
July 1, 2013 on the quality of care being provided at Conestoga View Nursing Facility.
3. Despite timely requests,the Guardian Ad Litem has been unable to obtain all of the
medical records for Benjamin.
4. Since the date of appointment, the Guardian Ad Litem has contacted approximately
fifteen professionals in the fields of neurology, pulmonology, life care planning, and physical
medicine and rehabilitation.
5. None of the professionals are able to provide an opinion prior to July 1, 2013.
6. As of this date, June 26, 2013, the Guardian Ad Litem has not been able to secure an
expert to give an opinion on Benjamin's care.
7. The Guardian Ad Litem has visited with client and, while not having formed an
opinion about Benjamin's long-term care, believes that he is not in imminent danger of harm in
his current placement.

8. The Guardian Ad Litem requests a continuance of the July 1, 2013 hearing, in order to
obtain an expert opinion on the quality of care for Benjamin and the efficacy of moving him to
his father's home.
9. Father, acting pro se, has agreed to the motion.
10. Mother, through her attorney John Mangan, opposes the motion because she has
already arranged for testimony from Benjamin's treating physicians.
