PETITION FOR APPOINTMENT OF
PRN ATE POLlCE FOR DICKINSON COLLEGE
AND NOW, Dickinson College, by it General Counsel, Dana Stevens Scaduto,
respectfully requests that this Court appoint a private police officer for the Dickinson College
campus. In support of its request, Dickinson College states as follows:
I, Petitioner, Dickinson College (hereinafter "College"), is a non-profit corporation
existing under the laws ofthe Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and operates a college in Carlisle,
Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
2. The Petitioner's campus consists oflarge areas of grounds which are open to the
public in and around the Borough of Carlisle.
3, Section 501 ofP.L. 1063, No. 271, dated November IS, 1972, as amended (22 Pa.
C.S, 9501) authorizes any non-profit corporation to petition the Court to seek the appointment of
private police officers to act as police officers in the immediate and adjacent vicinity of the non-
profit corporation's property.
4. The Petitioner has, in the past, had individuals appointed by this Court to act as
private police officers to care for the safety of the Petitioner's students and staff, and the general
public, and to provide for the protection of the property of the College,
5. The Petitioner designates the following individual as a candidate for appointment
as a private police officer and respectfully requests the Court to make said appointment;

ORDER AND DECRElt
AND NOW, this 4 ~
day of February, 2005, upon presentation and consideration
of the Petition for Appointment of Dickinson College Private Police, it is ORDERED AND
DECREED as follows:
1. JASON J, STRITCH, 234 North West Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 is hereby
appointed pursuant to 22 Pa. C.S, 9501 to act as a private police office for the Dickinson College
campus,
2, That before commencing the duties of a private police officer for Dickinson
College, said Appointee shall take and subscribe to the following oath of office as required by
Article 6, Section 3 of the Constitution of Pennsylvania, which oath shall be recorded by the
Cumberland County Recorder of Deeds:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, obey and
defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of
the Commonwealth, and that I will discharge the duties of my
office with fidelity,
3. Said Appointee shall, when on duty, wear a metallic shield with the words
"Special Officer, Dickinson College" inscribed thereon.
4. The Prothonotary of this Court shall transmit a certified copy ofthis Order and
Decree to the Office ofthe Recorder of Deeds where the same shall be recorded with the Oath
required by Article 6 of the Pennsylvania Constitution,
5. At such time as Dickinson College shall no longer require the services of said
Appointee, a notice to that effect under the Dickinson College corporate seal shall be filed in the
Office of the Recorder of Deeds. This information shall be noted upon the margin of the record
where the Order and Decree were recorded, and thereupon the powers of said Appointee shall
terminate.

PETITION FOR AMENDMENT OF APPOINTMENT OF
PRIVATE POLICE FOR DICKINSON COLLEGE
AND NOW, Dickinson College, by its General Counsel, Dana Stevens Scaduto, respectfully
requests that this Court amend the appointment of James Stritch, a private police officer for the Dickinson
College campus. In support of its request, Dickinson College states as follows:
I. On February 4, 2005, this Court entered an Order and Decree appointing James Stritch as
a private police officer for the Dickinson College campus, Said Order and Decree were recorded by the
Cumberland County Recorder of Deeds at Book 715 Page 653.
2. James Stritch swore an oath of office on February 9, 2005 that was subsequently recorded
by the Cumberland Country Recorder of Deeds at Book 715 Page 658.
3, The Order and Decree signed by this Court erroneously identifY James J. Stritch as Jason
J. Stritch and erroneously set forth his address as 234 North West Street, Carlisle, PA 17013, and his
correct address is, and was, 723 North West Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
4, This Petition for Amendment is submitted solely to correct these mistakes and with the
apologies of the College and its counsel for the errors.
WHEREFORE, Petitioner Dickinson College requests this Court to amend the appointment of
James J, Stritch upon the records of this Court as previously noted.

ORDER AND DECREE
for Amendment of Appointment of Dickinson College Private Police, it is ORDERED AND DECREED as
follows:
1. The entry of James J. Stritch upon the records of this Court and as duly recorded by the
Cumberland County Recorder of Deeds at Book 715 Page 653 shall be amended to properly reflect the
name of James J. Stritch, rather than Jason J. Stritch.
2. The address of James J, Stritch shall be amended upon the same record to read 723 North
West Street, Carlisle, PA 17013
3. All other matters contained in the Order and Decree of this Court dated February 4,2005,
pertaining to the commissioning of Mr. Stritch as required by Article 6, Section 3 of the Constitution of
Pennsylvania and 22 Pa, C.S, ~ 50 I as a private police officer for Dickinson College shall remain in full
force and effect, including the Oath recorded by the Recorder of Deeds at Book 715 Page 658,
4. The Prothonotary of this Court shall transmit a certified copy of this Order and Decree to
the Office of the Recorder of Deeds where the same shall be recorded with the Oath at Book 715 Pages
653 through 658 as required by Article 6 ofthe Pennsylvania Constitution.
5. At such time as Dickinson College shall no longer require the services of said Appointee,
