The Cumberland County Aging and Community Services became erjirency arcr;
of person and estate of Sven Jensen on September 1, 2009. The hearin was_,,hgld c,
front of Judge Ebert who at the conclusion of this hearing ordered Mr.Jensen York "'
Hospital for alcohol detox. Mr. Jensen upon discharge from the York hospital was
admitted to Manor Care Carlisle Arcadia unit. On September 29, 2011 a permanent
guardianship hearing was held in front of Judge Ebert. Cumberland Co. Aging and
Community Services was awarded permanent guardian of person and Keystone
Guardianship Inc. was awarded permanent guardian of estate. Mr. Jensen upon
discharge from the York hospital was admitted to Manor Care Carlisle Arcadia unit.
At the time of his admission to Manor Care, Mr. Jensen was diagnosed with organic
brain syndrome with psychotic features, alcohol abuse, Wernicke's encephalopathy,
depression and thiamine deficiency. There have been no new diagnoses at this time.
Mr. Jensen resided at Manor Care until December 2009 when he was transferred to
Arden Courts Assisted Living in Harrisburg. It was decided by the guardians and the
staff at Manor Care that Mr. Jensen upon stabilizing and adjusting to facility placement
would be more appropriate in a secured Memory Unit Assistive Living arrangement. He
continues to reside there today and continues to do well in this setting.
Arden Court staff is providing for his medical needs and sees his primary care doctor
Dr. Zanetti on a routine basis. He also receives dental and vision on a regular basis..
Staff monitors his mood, behavior and cognition on a daily basis. During this past year
he had several outbursts of anger usually resulting in his going to his room and
slamming the door.
The staff provides assistance with medication administration and require cueing and
much encouragement to complete all personal hygiene tasks including showering and
brushing teeth. He is independent with dressing and undressing. He requires routine
laundry and housekeeping services. Mr. Jensen is able to communicate he needs
appropriately.

Mr. Jensen likes to attend activities provided by the Home on a daily basis. Aging staff
has observed him participating in hymn sings, trivia questions, and exercise classes.
Sven has developed a friendship with a woman who is a fellow resident at the Home.
This woman's son asked permission to take them both out for a dinner and a show.
Aging granted permission for him to do this and Sven enjoyed it very much.
Christmas gifts were prepared and given to the staff to give him on Christmas morning.
His spouse, Barbara Fowler, who was a resident at Green Ridge Nursing Home, passed
away July 2011. Initially, Sven spoke of her when staff visited but by the end of 2012 he
no longer asked about her.
It is the request of the Cumberland County Aging and Community Services that this
agency retain Guardianship of Person for Mr. Sven Jensen. Arden Court has
demonstrated an adequate quality of care for his medical and overall well-being. We
believe, therefore, that Mr. Sven Jensen should continue to reside in that Assisted
Living memory care unit.
