Renunciation Forms & Grant of Letters of Administration
Dear Ms. Grayson,
Enclosed please find the completed renunciation forms for seven of my mother's eight surviving
children as well as a check for$40. The eighth child, Susan Yob, sent me the enclosed letter in
lieu of completing the renunciation form. We exchanged emails regarding Susan's wishes in the
hopes that she would eventually renounce, but she was only willing to consider renouncing to
my mother's surviving husband, Mr. Michael J. Riley, if there were a sibling co-administrator(the
process took time due to the three funerals that were arranged for my mother: one in September
in PA, one in October in MI, and one in CA in November).
Although I reside in California, I was in Pennsylvania with my ill mother for the better part of
seven months, including the 31 hours preceding her death in the hospital in Camp Hill; I held
her hand throughout the process and was alone with her when she took her last breath. After
her death, I accompanied Mr. Riley to the funeral home in New Cumberland and the courthouse
in Carlisle. It was decided that I would forward the renunciation forms to my siblings; who would
then return them to me, so that I could submit them as a set.
I was very close to my mother visiting her frequently during her 18 year residence in PA. I will
be in Pa at various times this year and will be available to assist with her estate as needed. My
siblings are aware of this and are comfortable with the assistance that I am willing to provide.
Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to assist. I am interested in ensuring that
the final aspects of my beloved mother's life are properly processed.
