STATEMENT OF REASONS
Decedent died intestate. William F. Winteler is the natural
brother of the decedent, who was adopted as a child by Peter and
Annie Winteler. The adoption was not secret, and the adoptee and
the decedent grew up as brothers in the same town, though living
in different households. Decedent was survived by no spouse,
children, parents, brothers or sisters or children of deceased
brothers and sisters, and William F. Winteler is thus deemed the
sole heir-at-law under Section 2108 of the Probate, Estates and
Fiduciaries Code.
