APPOINTMENT OF SPECIAL COUNSEL: CUMBERLAND COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

PETITION FOR APPROVAL TO ENGAGE SPECIAL COUNSEL
AND NOW, comes the Board of Commissioners of the County of Cumberland, by and
through the County Solicitor, Edward L. Schorpp, Esquire, and requests approval for
engagement of special counsel upon the following:
1. The Board of Commissioners of the County of Cumberland requires the services
of special labor counsel from time to time.
2. The rendering of legal advice on employment and labor relations matters lies
outside the expertise ofthe duly appointed County Solicitor and Assistance County Solicitors.
3. The Board of Commissioners has agreed to retain the services of Kevin M. Gold,
Esquire, Rhoads & Sinon, LLP, 1 South Market Square, Harrisburg, PA 17101, to render legal
services on labor matters at the hourly rate of$165.00 per hour.
4. Section 904 of the County Code, 16 P.S. 904, requires the approval ofthe Court
of Common Please for the appointment of special counsel.
WHEREFOR, the Board of Commissioners of Cumberland County respectfully requests,
Your Honorable Court to approve the appointment of Kevin M. Gold, Esquire, as labor counsel,
to serve at the pleasure of the Board of Commissioners.
