Dear Department of Revenue and Register of Wills:
I received a letter dated AprilS, 2006 and another on April 19, 2006, directing me to file an
inheritence tax return for my client, the Estate of Mr. Anees. I previously indicated that I am an
attorney hired by Mrs. Anees to prosecute a medical malpractice claim with respect to the death of
her husband. I am not a tax attorney nor was I hired to address tax returns and tax issues. I requested
that all further correspondence be directed to Mrs. Anees rather than to my office.
Furthermore, the estate was opened at the direction ofthe Judge in order to adjust the caption
on a medical malpractice claim. The medical malpractice case was filed in Cumberland County,
Civil Action 98-1379. Last year this case went to trial and the jury returned with a verdict in favor
of the Defendants, providing no money to either the estate or to Mrs. Anees. Accordingly, in that
the estate was simply opened at the direction of the Judge to amend the caption, there are no assets
and no money coming into the estate as a result of the medical malpractice claim.
