Dear Mrs. Strasbaugh:
Mrs. Margaret M. Sharpley has retained us with respect to e Estate of her late husband,
George A. Sharpley. She has received a letter from the Department f Revenue, a copy of which is
enclosed, regarding the status of administration. I
Mrs. Sharpley Petitioned for Letters Testamentary and probat~d her husband's Will asa step
necessary to pursue a medical malpractice claim on be~alf of her de4eased husband. Subsequently,
she learned that the attorneys evaluating the claim concluded that Ithey would not take the case.
Accordingly, the purpose for which she qualified as Executrix no longfr exists.
All of the decedent's assets were owned jointly with her, as husband and wife. His insurance
policy and IRA both named her as the beneficiary. Accordingly, nq inheritance tax would be due
unless the litigation were pursued and resulted in a judgment or settlenj1ent.
