CIVIL ACTION - LAW
PETITION FOR APPOINTMENT OF
DICKINSON COLLEGE PRIVATE POLICE
AND NOW, Dickinson College, by its attorneys, McNees,
Wallace & Nurick, respectfully request that the court appoint a
private police officer for the Dickinson College Campus, and in
support of its request states as follows:
1. The Petitioner, Dickinson College (hereinafter
"Petitioner"), is a non-profit corporation existing under the
laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and operates a college
at Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
2. The Petitioner's campus consists of large areas of
grounds which are open to the public in and around the Borough of
Carlisle,
3. Section 501 of P.L, 1063, No. 271, dated November 15,
1972, as amended, (22 Pa. C. S. ~501) authorizes any non-profit
corporation to petition the Court to seek the appointment of
private police officers to act as police officers in the
immediate and adjacent vicinity of the non-profit corporation's
property,
4. The Petitioner has, in the past, had individuals
appointed by this Court to act as private police officers for the
