Dear Mr. Carroll,
On June 22, 1994, a letter was written to me by the camp lIill School
Board indicating that I had been furloughed "due to a substantial
decrease in enrollment".
In that letter, I was assured that I would be notified "when any
permanent vacancies occur for which (I am) properly certified".
The following teachers

The district laid off too many teachers. Teachers were given schedules
without adequate preparation time. An additional staff member was
needed to cover study halls and the suspension room primarily.
Greg Herb (see above) was contacted and brought on staff.
I should have been contacted and offered this position
(Sec.1125.1(d)(2) P.S.c.).
The district denies this,
They say that the position is non-professional (that of an "aid")
and does not require certification, thereby excusing them from
compliance with Sec.1125,l(d)(2).
I contacted the P.D.E. and was told that it is the "firm position"
of the Dept. that certification is required for study hall and
suspension room duties (see enclosure). Therefore a rrofessional
position for which I am certified, (not an "aid" pos tion) was created
~ the district. -
I hereby request an expeditious hearing before the appropriate
authority pursuant to my rights under Sec,l125.1(d)(2) P.S.C.
This hearing is especially warranted since upon review of the seniority
list, records may have been changed in order to have me furloughed
initially.
