COMPLAINT
r
1. The plaintiff, Do-Ma Corp., trading as Embers Inn and Convention
Center, is a Pennsylvania corporation, having a place of business at 1700
Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

2. The defendant, Melanie Howard, is an individual whose last
known residence was 9210 East Traders Crossing. Laurel, Maryland 20723. Mail
to her there has been returned with the indication that she no longer resides at
that address. Her employer is Union Labor Life Ins. Co., 111 Massachusetts
Avenue N.W., Washington, D.C. 20001, and she has received mail there.
3, On September 17, 1993, the defendant booked a wedding reception
for February 26,1994, at the plaintiff's place of business. A copy of the contract is
attached hereto, marked Exhibit" A".
4, Paragraph 8 of the said contract states that a cancellation fee will be
charged in an amount equal to one-third of the estimated food, beverage and
applicable room renters and/or labor fees, should the contract be cancelled less
than 60 days prior to the scheduled date.
5, Defendant Howard called the plaintiff on January 3, 1994,
indicating that the wedding had been postponed, and cancelling the wedding
reception, which cancellation was less than 60 days prior to the scheduled
February 26, 1994, wedding.
6. Based on the above, the plaintiff sent a letter to the defendant dated
January 11, 1994, restating the cancellation policy and the charges owed as stated
in paragraph 4 above. A copy of the letter and the enclosed statement in the
amount of $802,73 are attached hereto marked Exhibit "B". There was no
response.
