THIS ACTR~;:r~~~I~T made this 27th day of September, A. D. 1922,
by and between the Board of Commissioners of Cumberland County,
Pennsylvania, hereinafter called the O;vner, and the Cha.rnbersburr~
Construction Company of Chambersbur~, Pennsylvania, hereinafter
called the Contractor.

siderations herein after named a.~ree as follo~,vs
AF:1T~~L1+~ 1. The Cor;tractor a~ress to furnish all materials
and perform all labor shown on drawings x}125-9 and #1251-~0, a.nd
that part of the specification entitled "Specification for Central
Hey=~~inf- System in the County Home at Carlisle, Pennsylvania.,"
covered by the work contemplated under the alternate bid for
heatin^~ attached t:ereto, prepared by F. G. Fahnestock, J.r., 401
Patriot ?~uildin~-, Harrisbur~•, Pennsylva.r.ia., acting and in these
contract documents entitled the Architect, to do everything re-
cv.ired by the CTertral Conditions of the Contract and these speci-
fications and drawin~*s necessary to install a c.ornplete heating
system as outlined, in the Home Building a.nd in the Present Ad-
ministration Building at the Cumberland County Home at Carlisle,
Fennsylvania,.
. ARTIC ~~' 11. The Contrc~,ctor further agrees t~iat all vrorur,:~~~~-
ship and rra.terials shall be tn.e best of their specified 'Kinds,
and in accordance with the plans and specifications.
ARTICLE+' 111, The Contractor furt]~er a~-rees that no alter-
ation or chanr~e (except a,s herein provided for) shall be made
unless in pursuance of a written order from the Architect, shred
in duplicate by tie O~zmer, Contractor and Architect, 2r.d r.o cla.im
for an addition to the Contract sum shall be valid unless so
ordered. The fol7.owin~ ch^_n~e is an exception to the above clause
a.nd is hereby agreed to:
Contractor will place a. 4" x 4" x 2~" plur*r-ed tee at the
end of the .line leadin~• from the dome Buildinr~ so that the Insane
Buildin~• cax~ be connected at a future tirr~e. Also a 2" x 12" x 1~'-"
tee for the return at the same point and f.or the sarr;e purpose.
ARTICLr~ 1V. Bhould the Contractor at any time refuse or
neglect to supply a sufficient number of properly skilled and
efficient ~;-orloalen or materials of the proper duality, or fail in
stay respect to prosecute the work vrith promptness and dilir*ence,
or fail in the perforr_iance of u:r,.y of the agreements herein con..
ta,ired, such refusal, ne~*lect or failure beinr~ certified by the
Architect, the Owner shall be at li'~erty, after five dayst
~,vritten notice to the Contractor, to provide any such la,ber and
materials and to deduct the cost the.~~eof From any money then d.ue
or tr:ereafter to become due to the said contractor under this
contract.
ARTIC -~+ V. It is hereby a~•reed that the contractor will
extend e~rery effort possible to have the entire 'r.eati.-r,~• system
completed by December 15, 192?.

ARTICh1; Vll. It is hereby mutually agreed bet~;reen the
parties riereto that the sum to be paid the Contractor by the Owner
for said v~rork and materials shall be I;i~ht thousand two hundred
eighty-one dollars, (°8281.00) subject to the chan~*es properly
agreed to as above contracted, and that such sum shall be paid
by the 0`~mer on monthl~T certificates issued by the Architect in
t~~e amounts of ninety per cent (900) of the total vaork done a.nd
materials furnished up to the end of each preceding month, the

tb the full performance of the covenants herein contained executed
in duplicate.
